Insert a shape in Slides Windows
- In the Insert tab, tap Shape.
- Choose a shape. In your document, hold and drag the handle to insert it.
Optionally, start typing to add text to the shape.
Manipulate pictures, videos or shapes
- To cut a picture, video, or a shape, select it and press CTRL+X, or
right click on the picture and click Cut on the contextual menu.
- To copy a picture, video, or a shape, select it and press CTRL+C, or
right click on the picture and click Copy on the contextual menu. - To send a picture, video thumbnail, or a shape behind an object, right click on the picture and click the Send to Back or Send Backward.
- To resize a picture, video thumbnail, or a shape, select it and drag a corner handle.
Insert a shape in Slides Android
1. Switch to the Insert tab and tap Shape.
2. Select the shape from the expandable bottom sheet.
3. To resize the inserted shape, tap on it and use the adjusting points.
To move the shape in the slide, tap+hold, and drag.
To copy, cut or delete a shape, tap on it and choose from the actions in the floating toolbar.
To customize the inserted shape, tap Format Shape.
4. In the expandable bottom sheet, find more options to customize the shape.
Insert a shape in Slides iOS
- In the Insert tab, tap Shape.
- Select the shape. Swipe the Graphic toolbar to reveal more options.
Manipulate shapes or pictures
- To move a shape, select, then drag and drop it into position.
- To cut or delete a shape, select and tap on it. Tap Cut or Delete on the floating toolbar.
- To resize a picture, select it and drag a corner handle.

Smart guides appear to aid you in aligning and spacing objects you move around. On the View tab, toggle Smart Guides.
