Insert a shape in Documents for Windows

Insert a shape
  1. On the Insert tab, tap Shape
  2. Choose a shape. In your document, hold and drag the handle to insert it.

Manipulate shapes or pictures

  • To cut the shape, select it and press CTRL+X, or
    right click on the shape, select Cut

  • To wrap text around a shape, select it first. On the Shape tab, select Wrap text and choose a text wrapping option. 

  • To resize a shape, select it and drag a corner handle. 

  • On the Shape tab, select Format shape to adjust Fill and Line options: Color, Opacity Style, Weight.

1. Open Documents, tap the tabs dropdown and select Insert.




2. Select Shape.




- Swipe the Graphic toolbar to reveal more options.
- To move the inserted shape, tap and drag anywhere in the document.
- To resize the inserted shape, use the adjusting points.

Manipulate shapes or pictures

  • To move a shape, select, then drag and drop it into position. 
  • To cut or delete a shape, select and tap on it. Tap Cut or Delete on the floating toolbar.  
  • To wrap text around a shape, select it and swipe the toolbar on top to reveal more options. Tap Text Wrap, Graphic options or Layout
  • To resize a picture, select it and drag a corner handle, or
    select Graphic options in the toolbar.

  1. In the Insert tab, tap Shape

Manipulate shapes or pictures

  • To cut or duplicate a shape, select it. Then tap Cut or Duplicate on the floating toolbar.  

  • To wrap text around a shape, select it and swipe the toolbar on top to reveal more options. Tap Wrap Text. 

  • To resize a shape, select it and drag a corner handle. 

  • Select the shape, use the toolbar on top to adjust Fill and Line options: Color, Style, Weight.
